Below are some of the questions most clients have when considering concrete for their project. If you have a question that is not listed below, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Concrete offers a great opportunity to customize any kitchen, bathroom or household space. It can be contemporary or classic. There's a range of expression available with concrete, far beyond what quarried stones such as granite and marble can do. Custom inlays such as fossils, tiles and stones can be set in the concrete. For kitchens, integrated sinks, built-in drainboards, trivets for hot pots, and chopping blocks can all be integrated into your countertop.
With current technology, we can make strong, thin concrete forms in any shape or color you can imagine.
It's a local material, hand built by local artisans. Also, 80% of concrete's material comes from your local regional gravel and sand pits. In our case, that is near Elgin, IL.
We've also starting using recycled materials in our concrete, replacing the sand and gravel with local post-consumer recycled glass. In some cases, we can even tell you exactly where you glass came from. We can also now replace some of the Portland cement found in concrete with a post industrial recycled material.
Like quarried stones, concrete is a porous materials, so it needs to be sealed to prevent it from staining. We have two ways we can seal concrete: With a topical sealer or a penetrating sealer. Both have advantages for different applications.
For most projects, from measure to install is about a week.
